It was a great anniversary.

Thank you to everyone who joined in the celebrations of Lakewood's 50th!

It's time to celebrate 50 amazing years as a city! And while Lakewood's incorporation day was technically June 24, 2019, we’re celebrating with the community all year.

Lakewood's 50th Anniversary is a time to honor our community’s unique history, diverse residents, and those who laid the foundation for incorporation and paved the way for the city's sense of community, culture and inclusiveness. We’ll highlight the early families and visionary leaders, entrepreneurs, staff, volunteers, and of course, the residents who together create and strengthen the community fabric that is Lakewood.

Here’s to celebrating our city’s rich past and looking ahead to the next 50 years. We hope you take a look around and join the celebration by participating in all of the activities on this site:

  • CLOSED: This survey has closed. Thank you to everyone who voted. We will announce the winning artist soon!

As the City of Lakewood celebrates 50 years of incorporation and prepares to march toward a dynamic future for the coming 50 years, a large scale, permanent public artwork will be created to commemorate the past, present and future of the city. The project will incorporate community interactivity and an existing historical landmark within Addenbrooke Park. It will stand as a permanent reflection of the diversity of our city, honor our history and inspire us to look to the future.

Voting closed on Dec. 1, and thank you for helping the City of Lakewood select an artist for the 50th Anniversary public art installation. The winning artist will be announced in mid-December and the installation is scheduled for September of 2019 in Addenbrooke Park.
