Wanted Tomatoes - But Also Made Lifelong Friends

I joined a community garden because I live in a townhome without a yard.  What started out as a wish for a few tomatoes, turned into my summer adventure story!  You learn there is no one way to grow vegetables, and how many kinds of vegetables there are!

It is wonderful to see so many people out enjoying the fresh air, enjoying community, and learning from each other.

Through the years, summer camps have enjoyed learning in our gardens, many from the community have taken advantage of free classes offered in the garden.  The garden has hosted, Scouts, Lakewood Summer Camps, and the neighbors enjoy a mini botanic garden.

We are all a little sad when we close the garden in October, but Wow! In May, those smiling faces light up my world!

Local vendors like Front Room Pizza fed us on work days and helped us pay for our shed that students from Warren Tech Built.  Lakewood Legacy Foundation donated our bulletin board and Kaiser Permanente also helped pay for the shed and build the garden!  Donations also came from Belmar Whole Foods!

Participate in a weighing and donation program and donate fesh produce to the Action Center grocery store!
