  Per Animal Control on the Lakewood, Colorado website, "Cats are free-roaming and do not require a leash when outdoors."  

  I live next to Jefferson Green Park and although our community has rules prohibiting unleashed cats or dogs on the property, these rules are not enforced for cat owners.  On a daily basis, year round, "free-roaming" cats wander the neighborhood, including Jefferson Green Park, stopping anywhere and everywhere to urinate and defecate at their leisure. Cats don't care - they'll 'spray' your tomatoes, your greens or your pretty flowers, then poop on your pumpkin.

  In a past life I had access to fresh eggs and would love to figure out a way to have access again. Perhaps this could be something to consider; co-op could provide eggs = beneficial chicken manure for garden?

  As a young girl in Illinois my mother always grew wonderful tomatoes & peaches and one year my father rented the old High School's Football field and we planted it.  Over an acre of Corn and Watermelon and rows of other veggies grew in the hot, black, Illinois soil that year ....and we preserved much of it and it lasted our large family several years of jarred food and frozen food.  We never discussed "GMO"s or water quality or Organic, Sustainable Methods back then.   There just was no other way to grow.

  Hi!

  We built an awesome vegetable garden in the front yard last summer in an area previously occupied by an unhealthy cherry tree.  We have 2 large raised beds, and grew a ton of green beans and tomatoes and carrots and lettuce/spinach/arugula.  Being in the garden drew the neighbors over, and we would place extra harvest goodies on the sidewalk to share.  It is a great way to be outside and active, it also looks really cool.  We definitely need more gardening!!

  We opened our new School/Community Garden at Green Gables Elementary School this past spring after a few years of planning and fundraising and construction. The garden has turned out to be a tremendous success—more successful than we ever imagined it would be!!! The garden has provided countless benefits to our school, individual gardeners, and our neighborhood as a whole.

  I had one of the first plots at the Ute Trail Garden. The reasons I joined were to grow more veggies than what I could in pots around my home, to increase my knowledge about gardening in Colorado, to meet others in my community, and to get some good outdoor physical activity in. Also, it was convenient that the garden was within a mile from my home.

  I am an avid gardener and participated in the Eiber Elementary Community Garden for several years even though I also have a garden at my house which is only a couple of blocks from the school. 

  I was so gung-ho in the first and second years and had very nice harvests, met new neighbors, and felt very good about what we were doing.   It is a joke in my family but no matter how many tomato plants I may plant, I only seem to grow one tomato. I have been raised on potted tomato plants because my family never really had an area for a decent garden. At this point in my life, I have a shaded patio which does not offer enough sun to my tomato plants.
