Consultation has concluded on this project.

The City of Lakewood continues to navigate through these unprecedented times and is adapting to the extraordinary challenges before us. The city is committed to keeping residents and businesses owners informed on the steps we and the community are taking to navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic. The city is working hard on the development of strategies and tools for businesses, nonprofits and community partners, and we need to hear from you about where to focus those efforts.

The information gathered from this outreach will provide additional insight to the Lakewood Economic Recovery Task Force as it engages in conversations on the short, medium and long-term strategic efforts for economic recovery.

The Lakewood Economic Recovery Task Force is made up of local business owners and industry professionals aligned with Lakewood’s top industries for employment. This group will review resources, survey results, suggestions and ideas while also bringing information and best practices from their respective industries to the forefront of this community discussion.

What do you see as the most important step to help Lakewood’s local economy recover?

    Some possible topics are:

Commercial Retail tenants are unable to pay their rent. Landlords rely on the rent payments in order to make their payments (mortgage, upkeep, insurance, etc.)  What are some possible solutions?

Many businesses immediately let their workers go after the first few days of mandatory business closures. The Federal PPP Loan/Grant program requires businesses to rehire workers and keep them on the payroll for a business that can’t operate.   What kinds of work can these employees do, if the business is not operating?

Many of Lakewood’s health care providers (family practice and other doctors, dentists, optometrists, nutritionists, etc.) have been unable to continue their business as normal, because many nonessential medical procedures have not been allowed with the shortage of medical equipment.  How can these health care providers build/rebuild their practices, so they are positioned well as soon as nonessential medical procedures are allowed to happen?
