Consultation has concluded

The City of Lakewood hosted a public engagement process in 2019 to determine the name and appropriate amenities for a future park located at 110. S. Cody St!

Formally home to the Meadowlark Cottages, the .7 acre site was acquired by the city from the Jefferson County School District in 2000. The two buildings on site were built in the 1960s to serve as elementary classrooms to supplement South Lakewood Elementary School and eventually became space for the district’s preschool program. The city also ran early childhood education programs in the buildings until 2008 when the city stopped using the facility because of failing infrastructure.

The city completed demolition of the buildings in early October of 2019, leading the way for a future park. The public engagement process guided the development of a site plan and name for the park. Construction began in 2021, the new park opened in July.

    Playground Survey

    As an interested neighbor and playground visitor, you have the opportunity to provide us your input by Feb. 12 to select a playground for the new Cottage Park! Please be aware that the colors shown in the playground proposals are not necessarily the colors that will be used. Colors will be selected to blend in with the surrounding environment.

    The selected playground is scheduled to be installed in March and April of 2021.

    As a neighbor or park visitor, we are asking for your input by Friday, October 25, 2019.

    A site plan for the new park site will be completed in 2019 with construction in 2020 as funding allows.
