Thanks to recent parkland acquisitions, the City of Lakewood is designing a new trailhead to the Bear Creek Greenbelt at S. Wadsworth Blvd. to provide better access to Bear Creek Trail. More details will be provided on this page when they are available. Following extensive study and engagement with community partners including Colorado Parks and Wildlife and a team from the Colorado School of Mines, the City will not be advancing plans for the Bear Creek Dog Park at this time.

Lakewood staff have partnered with Colorado Park and Wildlife and the Colorado School of Mines to design the Bear Creek Dog Park following the acquisition of property at the Greenbelt and Wadsworth Blvd.

Plans for the Bear Creek Dog Park are on hold for further study. The City is advancing designs for the new trailhead at the Bear Creek Greenbelt and S. Wadsworth Blvd. including internal review and permitting. The new trailhead will include a parking lot, restrooms, and sidewalk connection to improve accessibility to the park and Bear Creek Trail.
