Fitness Court to be installed at Green Mountain Recreation

The National Fitness Campaign (NFC) has awarded $25,000 to the City of Lakewood as part of a 2021 initiative in partnership with the Colorado Parks and Recreation Association (CPRA) to plan, build and fund healthy infrastructure. The City of Lakewood will install its newest quality of life addition outside Green Mountain Recreation Center, 13198 W. Green Mountain Dr., a sleek and modern outdoor Fitness Court® and multipurpose sport court with a supporting mobile app this summer.

The NFC grant program is designed to activate public spaces by connecting trails, well-placed pedestrian infrastructure and community meeting points with a central outdoor fitness facility — The Fitness Court® — that brings free, world-class fitness to everyone.

The new Fitness Court® at Green Mountain is the second open-air wellness center in Lakewood, following an installation in 2019 at Addenbrooke Park and checks the box on an Imagine Lakewood! master plan goal to increase affordable outdoor fitness opportunities. For adults of all ages, the Fitness Court® is adaptable for all fitness levels. New users can also download the free Fitness Court App — a coach-in-your-pocket style platform — that transforms the outdoor gym into a digitally supported wellness ecosystem. The Fitness Court App, entitled “Fitness Court”, is available for iOS and Android.
