Jefferson Green Park improvements are complete! Thank you to all who participated in designing the new park space. We hope you enjoy.

Jefferson Green Park, located at 3333 S. Field St., is a lovely, mature park offering sports fields, horseshoe pits, a playground and the 2019 addition of a community garden in partnership with Denver Urban Gardens.

Jefferson Green Park improvements included:

  • Providing play equipment that meets safety requirements established by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety CommissionJefferson Green Park Plan and the Handbook for Public Playground Safety.
  • Creating a variety of play components encouraging activities inclusive of multiple age groups and abilities.
  • Replacing the playground's pea gravel surfacing with a new, fully-accessible protective surface.
  • Installing Americans with Disabilities Act accessible benches, tables and chairs.
  • Replacing and widening park paths to 8 feet and adding access ramps.
  • Adding an 8-foot path between the community garden and the new playground.
  • Upgrading the existing port-o-let structure to an ADA-compliant structure and adding an enclosure to better accommodate park users.

    Thank you for your feedback, we agree sidewalk connections adjacent to the park should be improved. At this time, funding is only available for the playground replacement and accessibility improvements within the park. I will share the request with the city engineer through the sidewalk replacement program. Lighting is also not funded at this time, but I will share this feedback with our project team to see what opportunities might be available.

    There is not space for swings and a play structure in this location, unfortunately due to the safety surfacing requirements.

    Hi there,

    The community garden exists today and there are not plans to modify this space at this time. We will share your feedback with Denver Urban Gardens. DUG operates Lakewood Community Gardens with resident volunteers.
