Walking and biking are incredibly unsafe

Walking and biking anywhere in Lakewood is incredibly dangerous. Not because walking or biking is dangerous itself, but because we don't have sidewalks, don't have protected bike lanes, and nearly all of our transportation infrastructure is designed for people who are able to drive cars.

I bike and walk for the majority of my trips, and I feel like a second class citizen to the city despite not causing damage to the roads I pay for and not polluting the air our children breathe. It just makes me sad that I have to worry for my life every time I... Continue reading

Sam -- I wanted to let you know that the city is working on a project that will add a sidewalk from Wadsworth Boulevard to Reed street. Some of the initial steps for this project are on the City Council's agenda for the April 24 Regular City Council Meeting. You can watch a presentation about it online now. Stay tuned to this Lakewood Together website for more information about this project in the future.

    Non-Existent Sidewalks

I live on 20th avenue just east of Teller. A busy road and a main bus route.

There is a bug High School on this street, and it's a snow route.

There are no sidewalks for blocks and blocks. Dangerous, uneven shoulders. I don't know how a person in a wheelchair or with any kind of disability can make it to any of the bus stops. And kids walk to school on it every day, walking in traffic because there's nowhere else to walk.

PLEASE make it a priority to add sidewalks here!
