Consultation has concluded

Following feedback received through the survey and at the August 3 Imagine Tomorrow! public meeting, the City is not moving forward with the proposed dog park at South Sheridan Fields and will continue to explore other opportunities. Thank you for your input.

We want to hear from you

As a neighboring resident to South Sheridan Fields, located at 5370 W. Ohio Ave., your thoughts on proposed park improvements for these fields are important. The improvements could include up to 2 acres of the site dedicated to a fenced, off-leash dog area, with the rest of the 1-acre site devoted to a new shelter, parking area and walking trail to serve the community.

We are in the process of conducting a comprehensive appraisal of the site, and want your input via a short survey that can be found below.

Background
Additional dog parks in Lakewood have been identified as a top priority for residents through the Imagine Lakewood! master planning effort as well as through a recent survey of Lakewood residents. Dog parks are shown to reduce off-leash dog violations and dog waste in other city parks. The City of Lakewood has fewer dog parks when compared to other cities in the metro area because we currently only have one community dog park.

Next Steps

The neighborhood survey is now closed. Thank you for your interest!

We would like to facilitate a neighborhood conversation about the future of the South Sheridan Fields. Please share your comments, take the survey below and ask a question by Wednesday, July 27.
