The City of Lakewood is in the process of conducting a comprehensive review of a proposed dog park location and want your input.
Background
Additional dog parks in Lakewood have been identified as a top priority for residents through the Imagine Lakewood! master planning effort as well as through a recent survey of Lakewood residents. Dog parks are shown to reduce off-leash dog violations and dog waste in other city parks. With only one community dog park, Lakewood has fewer dog parks when compared to other cities in the metro area.
Location
Located at the intersection of the Bear Creek Greenbelt and Wadsworth Boulevard at 2951 S. Wadsworth Blvd., the proposed Bear Creek Dog Park would also incorporate a new parking area and trailhead for the Bear Creek Greenbelt following a recent park acquisition. Improvements to the park could include up to 8 acres of the site dedicated to a fenced, off-leash dog park and trail connections.
Next Steps
In order to facilitate a community conversation about the proposed dog park at Bear Creek Greenbelt at Wadsworth Boulevard, please share your comments, take the survey below and ask a question by Tuesday, September 27.
