Review the Draft ArtLine Design Standards & Guidelines

An important part of implementing the Framework Plan will be through the 40 West ArtLine Design Standards & Guidelines (DSG). The DSG will ensure the ArtLine vision is realized as public and private investment occurs along the route. The DSG are being developed in collaboration with the City Council appointed Lakewood Design Review Commission and other stakeholders.

What is a Design Standard & Guideline?

Design Standards and Guidelines (DSG) consist of both minimum standards and suggested guidelines to achieve consistent neighborhood character, promote flexibility and creativity, ensure high quality design, and align with the community vision.

• Design Standards are objective criteria that provide a specific set of required directions for a particular topic, based on the related Design Intent Statement.

• Design Guidelines provide additional guidance to promote the goals defined by the Design Intent Statements. They are more flexible than Standards.

• Design Standards and Guidelines will be applicable to new development and redevelopment projects in the area.
