How do you Imagine Lakewood?
over 6 years agoCLOSED: This brainstormer has concluded. We want to know what ideas you have for improving arts, parks and recreation in Lakewood. On your travels, what have you seen in other communities that you think would work in Lakewood? Leave a comment here so that your neighbors can vote and show support for your idea.
blumanabout 7 years agoReduce street light pollution (and save tax $$!!)
Street lights around Lakewood are excessive and do not follow best practices for minimizing stray light. Should we pay for illuminating open spaces and homeowner's yards/interiors all night at a cost to the community? Let's address this light pollution, reduce the impact on people and animals, and save that money for all these great ideas that GIVE to the community!
4Allisonabout 7 years agoI've seen swinging benches in parks around the country and metro area. I would love to see swinging benches in parks that have great views.
8Kathiabout 7 years agoCommunity Center at Mountair Park on the n/e corner of Depew and 14th.
The center could have meeting rooms (or an area with moveable walls to make rooms), kitchen, bathrooms and play area. Bring down the baseball building - replace it with bleachers. Put in a picnic area. There is already a basketball court and parking. The farm could use the kitchen for teaching cooking of good fresh food and the City Camp could use it for feeding the kids.

Summer outdoor movie nights and concerts;winter snow sculpture exhibits and contests; holiday activities (chocolate day, egg hunts, trick or treating, pumpkin carving, sleigh rides) art day with exhibits and participatory activities (chalk art, park canvas on which everyone makes a contribution); loads of ideas! Offer community activities to bring us together and enjoy our parks.
